If a website is not loading properly, showing outdated information or behaving strangely, clearing your browser cache and cookies often fixes the problem. Here is how to do it in Microsoft Edge.
What cache and cookies are
Your browser stores copies of websites you visit so they load faster next time. This is called the cache. Cookies are small files that websites use to remember you, such as keeping you signed in. Over time these can cause issues, especially if the stored data is outdated or corrupted.
How to clear them
Open Microsoft Edge. Click the three dots in the top right corner and click Settings. On the left, click Privacy, search and services. Scroll down to the section called Clear browsing data and click Choose what to clear. Set the time range to All time. Make sure Cached images and files and Cookies and other site data are both ticked. Click Clear now.
What happens after you clear them
Websites may load slightly slower the first time you visit them, because the browser needs to download everything fresh. You will also be signed out of most websites and will need to log in again. This is normal and expected.
When to clear your cache
If a website is not displaying correctly, if you are seeing old content that should have updated, or if your browser feels sluggish, clearing the cache is a good first step. It does not delete any of your files, bookmarks or saved passwords unless you specifically tick those options.
When to get help
If clearing your cache does not resolve the issue or if browser problems keep recurring across your team, there may be a deeper issue with your network, DNS settings or a browser policy that needs attention. Recloud can investigate and resolve these for you.
