How to Connect a Bluetooth Device on Windows 11

Connecting a wireless mouse, keyboard or pair of headphones to your computer is straightforward once you know where to go.

Pairing a Bluetooth device to a Windows 11 computer

Before you start

Make sure the Bluetooth device you want to connect is charged and in pairing mode. Pairing mode is usually activated by holding down the power button or a dedicated Bluetooth button on the device until a light starts flashing. Check the device instructions if you are unsure how to do this.

How to pair the device

Bluetooth device settings and pairing on Windows 11

Click the Start button and open Settings. Click on Bluetooth and devices. Make sure the Bluetooth toggle at the top is turned on. Click Add device, then select Bluetooth. Your computer will start searching for nearby devices. When your device appears in the list, click on it. If prompted for a PIN, check the device manual or packaging for the correct code. Some older devices use 0000 or 1234 as a default, but most modern devices pair automatically without one. Once paired, you will see the device listed under your Bluetooth devices.

If your device does not appear

Make sure the device is still in pairing mode. The pairing window is usually short, so you may need to activate it again. Move the device closer to your computer. If it still does not show up, try restarting Bluetooth by toggling it off and on again in Settings.

If the device connects but does not work properly

For headphones, you may need to set them as your default audio device. Right click the speaker icon in the taskbar, click Sound settings, and under Output select your Bluetooth headphones.

When to get help

If Bluetooth devices repeatedly fail to pair, disconnect frequently or cause audio issues in meetings, there may be a driver or hardware compatibility problem. Recloud can troubleshoot device connectivity issues and ensure your team's peripherals work reliably.
